The 24-Hour Window

How Story Downloads Work
Each Story has a unique URL that identifies the specific slide within the 24-hour window. When you paste this URL, our server fetches the media file before Instagram's servers delete it. The photo (JPEG) or video (MP4) is served to you in its original resolution.
The typical Story resolution is 1080×1920 pixels — vertical full-screen. This matches the native aspect ratio of the Instagram Stories camera. Videos include audio and can be up to 60 seconds long.
Stories vs Highlights vs Reels
Stories are temporary (24 hours). Highlights are permanent collections of past Stories pinned to a profile. Reels are short-form videos in the Reels tab. Each has different download requirements.

Can I download a Story that has a poll, quiz, or sticker?
Answer: The underlying photo or video downloads without the interactive elements (polls, quizzes, sliders). You get the clean background media that the Story was built on.
Do Story downloads include the caption text?
Answer: No. Only the media file (photo or video) is downloaded. Text overlays, stickers, and interactive elements are part of Instagram UI and are not included in the file.
Can I save multiple Stories from the same account?

Why did my Story download fail?
Answer: Most likely the Story expired. Stories only last 24 hours. Other causes: the URL is incomplete, the account is private, or the Story was deleted by the user. Verify the link and try again.
